How do I enable NFC on my Android phone?

On Android, open Settings, search NFC, and toggle it on. On iPhone, NFC is always on from iPhone 7 onward — there's no setting to change.

Quick steps on Android

The fastest way on any Android phone: pull down the quick-settings panel from the top of the screen and look for an NFC tile. Tap it to turn NFC on. If you don't see the tile, follow the steps for your phone below.

Samsung Galaxy

1. Open Settings
2. Tap Connected devices, or Connections on older models
3. Tap NFC and contactless payments
4. Toggle NFC on

Google Pixel

1. Open Settings
2. Tap Connected devices
3. Tap Connection preferences
4. Tap NFC
5. Toggle NFC on

OnePlus

2. Tap Connection and sharing, or Bluetooth and device connection

No NFC option appears

If you can't find an NFC setting anywhere, your phone may not have NFC hardware. Most Android phones launched before 2014 don't have it, and some budget models launched after 2018 dropped it. To confirm, search the web for your exact phone model + "NFC specifications."

If your phone has no NFC, you can still share your V1CE card by QR code. Ask the other person to open their phone camera and point it at the QR code on the back of your card.

NFC is on but the tap still doesn't work

If NFC is on and the card still won't tap, see "My V1CE card isn't working — start here" (article 175). Most cases are a thick phone case, the chip needing a re-encode, or the card being reset.
